1. Gather your tools

You will need the following tools to remove an interior door knob:

Phillips head screwdriver
Flat head screwdriver

2. Remove the screws

On the side of the door knob, you will see two screws. Remove these screws using the Phillips head screwdriver.

3. Remove the escutcheon plate

Once the screws are removed, you can remove the escutcheon plate. This is the metal plate that covers the base of the door knob. It may be held in place by clips or screws. If it is held in place by screws, remove them using the Phillips head screwdriver. If it is held in place by clips, use the flat head screwdriver to pry them loose.

4. Remove the doorknob

Once the escutcheon plate is removed, you can remove the doorknob. To do this, simply pull the doorknob straight towards you. It may be necessary to wiggle it back and forth as you pull it.

5. Remove the spindle

Once the doorknob is removed, you will see the spindle. This is the metal rod that connects the two doorknobs. Remove the spindle by pulling it straight out of the door.

8. Reinstall the new door knob

To reinstall the new door knob, simply reverse the steps above. First, insert the latch into the door. Then, insert the spindle into the door. Next, place the escutcheon plate over the base of the door knob and secure it with the screws or clips. Finally, insert the doorknob into the spindle and secure it with the screws.
